Support Local Business in East Perth
Wassup owner Jules is frustrated with the council restrictions in East Perth that limit his ability to develop and grow the loved Wassup Dog trade. This includes tough parking penalties and council by laws restricting customer access.
“It seems that the council is putting short term gains ahead of supporting local growth and development. Jules said that they are essentially “…slowly killing local businesses in an economy that is already slow. Half of the street is empty shopfronts and all of the businesses here are struggling.”
Jules put together a 10 page document about all the benefits that a parklet would bring to the area. A parklet is a parking bay converted into public space with communal wooden deck with seating, some pot plants and art work. Jules offered to fund the whole project but his application was rejected.”
